Traveling with children

We all have memories of children « who do not travel well », as they say politely. The bad memories I have in this category are fortunately not concernning my children who have always been good travelers.

Often, however, we must say that adults can also be as disruptive either talking loudly on their phone on the bus or an airplane or those people having a real great time on the terraces - of an hotel room, just room over it. I remember having to endure a hard worker, a workaholic real at 6 am, aboard a train during a trip between Montreal and Québec. am sure you have been wakened by some people having so much fun in a pool late at night.

But, admittedly, some parents do not seem too concerned about their child shouting or crying in an  airplane, or restaurant or or during the explanations of a guide.

Our secret recipe is quite simple: build a program that will interest them and keep the activities that interest them most for the end of the day, with an hotel room.

To ensure that restaurant meals are not too chaotic, we started, At an early age, presents to our children to simple dinners and short first and by gradually increasing the sophistication of the food and encouraged them to stay at the table. An interesting game, compact and quiet is always a valuable tool for parents or coaches.

We realized quickly, by pure self-preservation, that it was not a good idea to gorge on sweets and food energy before a long flight or a long bus ride, since they store energy that has to be burned. I assure you, nuts and fruit are irresistible when a child is hungry.

Another tip for the trip: To maintain the children interest and keep them awake, tell them the destination, try the foreign language and have stories that they can understand. Let them talk about their projects and let them ask any question that pass through their heads.

Always  plan a surprise that will look like a terrific adventure for them, do not forget they are just children. It is easy!

Certainly those things that worked well for us does not necessarily give the same results with all children. Some never become good travelers. If this is your case, be patient or do other things during your vacation.

Especially, it is useless to think that other vacationers can find greater pleasure than yours to travel with your unruly children! …

AU FAIRMONT BANFF SPRINGS, LE SERVICE AVANT TOUT!

Ce n’est pas que la beauté époustouflante des montagnes qui vous entourent ou l’architecture magnifique du Fairmont Banff Springs qui vous coupera le souffle, mais plutôt la qualité du service qui surpassera toutes vos attentes.

Banff est un endroit superbe en toute saison. L’air est vif et pur et la chance de voir un coyote ou un chevreuil se balader au beau milieu de la ville, ne se fait pas rare. Les gens que l’on rencontre sont sympathiques et très souvent ils sont des touristes eux aussi.

Si la décoration des chambres de l’hôtel semble avoir besoin d’une petite mise à jour, les lits et oreillers de plumes sont quant à eux d’un confort bien apprécié.

Côte alimentaire, on trouve un restaurant japonais, un restaurant italien, et un grill, le Bow Valley qui est ouvert pour tous les repas. Pour des occasions spéciales le restaurant Banffshire Club fera succomber votre palais. Sinon, le menu à la chambre offre un menu varié et délicieux. more »

Croisière en Asie, Bangkok (8)

Chao Praya, Bangkok, Asie

La croisière était finie depuis déjà douze heures. La fatigue de la route en autobus rendait notre hôtel plus invitant encore. Le Shangri-La était en bordure du quartier chinois d’un côté et de la rivière Chao Praya de l’autre. Un emplacement de choix qui offrait de notre chambre une vue d’exception sur l’animation de la rivière où des bateaux de toutes formes circulaient constamment.

Nous avons mangé, ma femme et moi, en amoureux dans le restaurant thaïlandais de l’hôtel, sur le bord de l’eau. La musique, les danses et la douceur de l’air complétaient bien cette journée. Notre dernière journée nous a conduits au Grand Palais, l’ancienne résidence des rois du Siam qui héberge au lieu de culte important, le temple du bouddha d’émeraude. Un incroyable. Un incroyable amalgame de couleurs, de spirales, de statues, de tourelles, de mosaïques que le soleil fait étinceler. La chaleur était suffocante à l’intérieur des murs; obligation stricte de boire de l’eau continuellement. La foule aussi était nombreuse; des pèlerins et des touristes. more »

Un hôtel qui se réinvente en France

Bruit étrange

Un couple du Maryland avait planifié son voyage aux Indes avec beaucoup de soin. Chaque hôtel avait été sélectionné pour sa vue, son confort et son calme.

Un soir, alors qu’elle se démaquillait, la femme entendit un bruit qui se répétait et qui semblait venir du dessous du l’évier.

Elle continua à se démaquiller mais elle sentit qu’en plus de faire du bruit, ça bougeait. Elle poussa un cri de mort qui réveilla son mari et probablement tout les clients de l’hôtel. Un préposé de l’hôtel se précipita alors à la porte et puis dans la salle de bain pour découvrir une inoffensive petite grenouille qui semblait la plus surprise de tout cet émoi.

Une inspection complète de la chambre, des draps et du placard fut nécessaire avant qu’ils ne puissent finalement dormir en paix.

On ne sait jamais qui partage la chambre avec nous!
